he Gonzales Lady Apaches saw their season come to a close Thursday night in a tough playoff loss to Floresville, falling 18-25, 11-25, 14-25 in bi-district action.
Head coach Jenna Lamb said Thursday’s matchup brought a different kind of pressure than the team’s recent games but also valuable lessons.
“Thursday night didn’t go the way we hoped, but we knew it would be a challenge going into a playoff match,” Lamb said. “We struggled to maintain the same rhythm and trust we had on Friday. We were a bit reactive instead of proactive, and that threw off our timing and communication. The good news is we’ve seen what it looks like when we’re connected, so now it’s about getting back to that level of consistency.”
Senior Aubrey Lindemann led Gonzales in nearly every statistical category this season, finishing with 114 kills, 139 assists, and 126 digs. Carsyn Carrizales anchored the back row with 196 receptions, while Amaris Johnson tallied 28 blocks and Parker Petras added 23 service aces. As a team, the Lady Apaches recorded 444 kills, 698 digs, and 111 aces across their 32 matches.
Lamb said the season was about far more than numbers, emphasizing the growth and resilience of her players through adversity.
“What I really hope they remember is how we grew together through the hard stuff,” she said. “This season gave us plenty of moments that tested us — matches that didn’t go our way, practices where things felt off, days where it would’ve been easy to shut down. But they didn’t. They showed up, they kept working, and they kept that hope that they can make a change for success.”
With only one senior graduating, Lamb said she’s confident the experience gained this season will carry forward.
“I think we’ll be a stronger, more mature program next year,” she said. “We’ve built a foundation — now it’s about taking that next step by staying composed in tough moments, trusting each other completely, and playing with belief in who we are as a team. If we can do that, the results will take care of themselves.”
The Lady Apaches finished the year 8-24 overall and 4-6 in district, securing their fourth straight playoff appearance and setting their sights on continued progress in 2026.
