Lewis Paul Miller, 82, of Gonzales, Texas, went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.
Paul was born September 27, 1938 in Waurika, Oklahoma, the son of the late Harley and Eva Miller of Olton, Texas. Paul grew up in Olton where he went to school and worked on the family farm. The Miller Family grew cotton, corn, raised hogs, and owned Miller’s Cage Eggs.
Paul married Sarah Sue McIlroy on March 25, 1961. Paul joined the army shortly after their marriage and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis where he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. During this time they welcomed their first daughter, Paula.
After returning to the Texas Panhandle, Paul and Sarah welcomed their youngest daughter, Sharon, in 1966. After 25 years of working for Lamb County, Paul retired and he and Sarah moved to Gonzales, Texas in 2005, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Paul was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and, during his younger years, he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.
If he wasn’t reading a Louis L’Amour book, he was watching a western on TV. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Paul was a spiritual man and involved in many church activities. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all that knew him.
