Mustangs fall to Stockdale at home

Posted

The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs open the second half of district play at home against the Stockdale Brahmas Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The Mustangs beat the Brahmas in the district opener earlier, but Stockdale turned the tables on Nixon-Smiley for round two.

The Mustangs fell to Stockdale, 44-36, dropping to 2-4 in district and hurting their playoff chances.

The Mustangs are tied with Karnes City and Goliad with the same district record; Nixon-Smiley needs to season season sweep Goliad and beat Karnes City to force a play-in with the Badgers for the fourth and final playoff spot.

The Mustangs will hit the road Friday, Jan. 31 in Luling; Nixon-Smiley fell to the Eagles in the first meet in district and are looking to rebound from that loss.

The Mustangs will host Karnes City at home Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Both games tip off at 8 p.m.
