NIXON — The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs enter December unbeaten, opening their 2025–26 season with a 3–0 record and strong early-season momentum as they prepare for tournament action on Thursday, Dec. 5.

The Mustangs have been dominant on both ends of the court through their first three contests, outscoring opponents 188–92 and winning both at home and on the road. Nixon-Smiley is one of the few area teams to remain undefeated heading into tournament week.

The Mustangs will face a pair of opponents on Thursday at the Dec. 5 tournament, beginning with Kenedy at 9 a.m., followed by Dilley at 6 p.m.

After tournament play wraps up, Nixon-Smiley returns to its regular-season slate on Monday, Dec. 9, hosting Poteet at 6:15 p.m.

With a balanced offense already putting up nearly 63 points per game and a defense holding teams under 31, the Mustangs look poised to continue their early success as the schedule begins to intensify.
