Two people were arrested by Gonzales police Friday, Oct. 25, on drug and weapons charges at a local motel.
Lt. Jason Montoya of the Gonzales Police Department said GPD received numerous tips regarding a subject named Joacquin Gonzales Jr., 57, of Gonzales, who was reportedly selling and distributing narcotics out of the Apache Inn.
On Friday, GPD and the Gonzales County Sheriff's Office, in a joint effort, executed a search warrant. During the search, a large amount of narcotics, along with firearms, were seized. Both Gonzales and a 29-year-old female, identified as Ashley Ainsworth of Gonzales, were arrested.
Both subjects were charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 equal to or greater than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, which is a first-degree felony punishable by a sentence of 5-99 years or life in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. They were also both charged with possession of a stolen firearm, a state jail felony punishable by six months to two years in a state jail facility and a fine of up to $10,000.
They were being transported to the Gonzales County Jail as of Friday evening.
