Apaches rack up district awards

The Gonzales Apaches got out of the tough District 10-4A2 with a playoff spot as they finished their season 2-3 in district. During their run, multiple Apaches came away with postseason awards.

Named lineman MVP was Gonzales’ Wade Miller. Newcomer of the year on the defensive side was Trent Wilkerson.

On the first-team all-district list for offense are Joshua Calvin, Juan Licea and Brandon Carrizales. Named to the second-team are Aaron Hunt, Hayden Henke and Bradley Balken. Honorable mentioned are Garrett Rickman, Wade Miller, Luis Segura, Trevion McNeil and Josh Bustos.

Named to the first-team all-district for defense are Jason Velasquez-Banda and Dawson Hull. Named to the second team are Joseph Gonzales, Matthew Grauke, Aaron Hunt and Alex Ortiz. Honorable mentioned are Juan Licea, Jaren Blundell and Corey Anzudula. Rogelio Sanchez was honorably mentioned as a kicker.

Named to the academic all-district team are Alex Ortiz, Matthew Grauke, Jaren Blundell, Lane Vaught, Micah Medellin, Wade Miller, Hayden Henke, Joseph Gonzales, Joshua Landi and Brandon White.
