Mustangs thumped by Dilley

DILLEY — After scoring the first touchdown of the game, Nixon-Smiley wasn’t able to get back on the scoreboard until late in the fourth, losing to Dilley 41-14 in the district game. The Mustangs dropped to 1-2 while Dilley went up to 3-0.

Colby Newman went 5-for-12 for 64 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He rushed 15 times for 95 yards. Joey Mendez rushed 17 times for 71 yards. Mendez also caught three balls for 62 yards and a touchdown. Jose Melendez had one reception for four yards and a touchdown.

Nixon-Smiley takes on Poth (2-1) on Friday at home for Senior Night.
