Vivian Ann Shelton

On Nov. 16, 2015 at 11:15 p.m. the Lord called his faithful servant Vivian Ann Shelton home. After an 18-month-long battle with cancer, He saw fit to relive her of her duties here on Earth to take up rank with the heavenly hosts.

Born in Gonzales, she was the middle daughter of James Douglas and Vivian Mae McNeil. Vivian accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She attended Riverside Elementary and Edwards High School until 1965 when the school integrated into Gonzales High School where she graduated in 1969. From 1969 until 1971 she attended St. Philips College in San Antonio, graduating with a Associates Degree in Business Management.

She was married to Allen Milton Shelton, Sr. from Aug. 13, 1971 – Aug. 26, 1985. Their union resulted in five children, Allen Milton Shelton Jr, Robert Shelton, Sophia Shelton, Sheri Shelton, and James Shelton, all of Gonzales.

Vivian was in the Air Force Reserves from 1978  - 81. Throughout her life she held various secretarial positions until transitioning into the food service industry. Vivian was a devoted member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.         

Vivian is survived by her two sisters, Martha Wiley (Carl Sonny Wiley) of Ft. Worth and Shirley Littlefield of Gonzales; son, Allen Shelton Jr. (Tiffany Shelton) and their four children Timtrell, Kaitlyn, Alandree, and Tayllen, Robert Shelton of Gonzales, Sophia Shelton and her two children Brycen and Braylon, Sheri Shelton and her daughter, Amari and James Shelton (Ashley Cerda) and their three children Sckarlet, Mason James, and Christian James and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving family.

Her family will receive visitors on Nov. 20 at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church from 4 - 7 p.m. A final celebration of life services will be Saturday, Nov. 21 at First Baptist Church at 11 a.m.

Services have been entrusted to Harris Funeral Home, 127 US Highway 90A-E., Gonzales, Texas, 78629.
