Wildcats win gold at district meet

HALLETTSVILLE — Multiple athletes won gold at the District 30-1A track meet for the Waelder Wildcats. Tracy Moore led the way, taking first in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and the long jump. John Aguilar was Waelder’s other gold individual medalist, leading the way in the 3200-meter run. Though unnamed in the district report, the 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams both took gold.

Boys’ varsity team:

  • 100-meter: Tracy Moore, first, 10.93; Josh Jones-Miller, second, 11.46
  • 200-meter: Tracy Moore, first, 23.41
  • 1600-meter: Miguel Morales, third, 5:32.56
  • 3200-meter: John Aguilar, first, 11:52.20; Miguel Morales, fourth, 12:00.00
  • 4x100-meter relay team, first, 47.75
  • 4x200-meter relay team, first, 1:42.72
  • 4x400-meter relay team, third, 3:55.61
  • Long Jump: Tracy Moore, first, 20-5; Josh Jones-Miller, third, 18-9
  • Triple Jump: Tracy Moore, second, 37

Girls’ varsity team:

  • Shot Put: Malorie Puente, second, 32-4; Brejhai Montgomery, third, 32-0 ½; Nashai Thompson, fourth, 27-4

Top athletes will compete in the area round this Wednesday, April 19 at Lufkin. Region IV-1A finalists will compete from April 28-29 at Bowers Stadium in Huntsville.
