Anna Ruth Hummel

Anna Ruth Hummel, 81, of Gonzales, died Saturday, January 18, 2003. She was born November 16, 1921 in Caldwell County to the late Abner and Ruth Bell Moore. She graduated from Harwood High School in 1939. She worked as a telephone operator and worked for several years at Dr. Siever's Clinic as a bookkeeper. She was married to the late Eris E. Hummel on April 2, 1955 in Gonzales.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Ann Gould and husband Dalton of Gonzales; two sisters, Margaret Hoag and Mary Birt, both of Harwood; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Johnny McGown, one sister, Avis Oehlers and one brother, Abner Moore, Jr.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Read officiating. Burial followed at the Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ken DuBose, Greg DuBose, Haskell Hendershot, Ralph Davis, Michael Ragsdale and Walter Ragsdale.

Honorary pallbearer was Roger Birt.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Seydler-Hill Funeral Home of Gonzales was in charge of arrangements.
