The Gonzales Apaches FC slipped back into third place in District 27-4A after a 3-0 home loss at Apache Field to San Antonio Memorial on Friday, Feb. 28 and a 2-0 win at Yoakum on Tuesday, March 4.
Gonzales ended the first half in a 0-0 tie with the Minutemen, but allowed three second-half goals to the visitors.
While they were held scoreless in the first half against Yoakum, the Apaches found the back of the net twice in the second half to top the Bulldogs and move to 7-3-2 in district play and 9-6-4 overall.
La Vernia remains in first place at 10-1 while San Antonio Cole is in second at 9-2 and Memorial, which also lost to La Vernia, has dropped to 7-4-1.
Gonzales will travel to Cole on Friday, March 7. They will close out the season at Young Men’s Leadership Academy on March 12.
