The Gonzales Apaches FC open up district on the road against the San Antonio JFK Rockets Friday, Jan. 24 at Edgewood ISD Stadium.
The Apaches and Rockets were in a back and forth game with both teams exchanging goals in the first half.
Gonzales shutdown the Rockets in the second half allowing them one goal on the Apaches.
The Apaches secure the, 6-3, win over JFK and kicked off district with a 1-0 record.
Apaches head soccer coach Shea Seip was happy on how his team performed against the Rockets in the district opener.
“One game at a time, it feels great. but it's not over all.” Seip said.
The Apaches are in much bigger soccer district this season with Luling and Cole in the mix in 4A District 27.
“Points is our goal every time we come out, we're going for points,” Seip said.
The Apaches traveled to Luling for a match against the Eagles Tuesday, Jan. 28.
The Apaches will travel to La Vernia Friday, Jan. 31 for their third district match.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m.
