Tickets are officially sold out for the one of the biggest nights of the year for Gonzales County: the annual Bingo, Bags and Badges fundraiser, to be held Friday, April 4, at the JB Wells Expo Center in Gonzales.
However, event organizers with Norma’s House, also known as the Gonzales Regional Children’s Advocacy Center, said they are still in need of donations of purses and/or silent auction items. Interested parties can call 830-672-1278 or come by the Norma’s House office at 1604 Saint Paul St. in Gonzales to drop off donations.
A packed house is expected to be present cheering on local law enforcement officers as they model generously donated fabulous designer bags that can be won. The night will be filled with fun, fashion, music, and, hopefully, the generosity of the community as everyone comes together to celebrate and raise funds for Norma’s House, the Gonzales Regional Advocacy Center serving Gonzales, Lavaca and DeWitt counties.
The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Expo Center, 2301 County Road 197, Gonzales. Doors open at 5 p.m. and you must be at least 18 to attend.
Corporate tables were made available for $500 with reserved seating for eight, plus eight bingo cards, finger foods and two bottles of wine. Meanwhile, individual tickets were $50 per person (including admission, one bingo card and finger foods).
A favorite for many in Gonzales County, this fundraiser features multiple rounds of bingo played for high-end designer purses which are first “modeled” by local first responders — firefighters, police officers, EMTs and others who strut their stuff down the runway to entice attendees to tip them extra dollars that are collected for the Gonzales Regional Children’s Advocacy Center.
There are also door prizes, a silent auction and a beer and wine cash bar— with a live emcee to keep things lively and fun.
Prior year’s events have raised record amounts of money for the organization, according to executive director Deane Parsley-Novosad.
Norma’s House has been serving Gonzales County for 27 years and is one of 70 children's advocacy centers in the state. It is a place where children and families affected by sexual and physical abuse can come for help and hope, tell their stories and receive services to start them on the road to recovery and justice.
