The Gonzales City Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, Dec. 12 at the Municipal Building.
One of the big agenda items that was approved by the council was the lease agreement with Gonzales Dog Adoptions.
Johnnie Fogle spoke to the council during the public comments about the lease.
“I received an email this week from Miss (City Secretary Kristina) Vega that had a document which is going to allow us, with your approval, to negotiate with manager Tim Crow to get our Gonzalez Dog Adoptions lease service agreement expanded to a five-year period with maybe a renewal for 10 years after that,” Fogle said.
“We are very happy with the opportunity. We know that there's a lot of things that we've kind of finished working through to make it fit for both parties,” Fogle added.
Mayor Steve Sucher said he compliments the Gonzales Dog Adoptions center for having Fogle as their point man for negotiations.
The council approved to execute a ground lease agreement with Gonzales Dog Adoptions.
