The DeWitt’s Colony Association, which includes Gonzales, DeWitt, Lavaca and Caldwell counties, will hold a symposium titled “When Cotton Was King in Gonzales, Texas (1845-1861)” at the Stockton Building, 509 St. Lawrence St., Gonzales (next door to the Crystal Theatre) from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26.
At 10:15 a.m., guest speaker Patricia Carroll Cleveland will talk about “The Saga of the Texas Carroll Family.” Following, there will be a panel discussion about “Preserving Gonzales County’s Heritage Resources.”
