Edwards Association to celebrate life, legacy of MLK

The Edwards Association will celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. for the 22nd year in a row. This year’s theme is “Building a Beloved Community: Unite, Serve, Transform.”

From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20 — the date on which MLK Day is celebrated this year — the Edwards Association will host its annual march from Independence Square up Saint Paul Street to Saint Peter and then to Fly Street, to the former Edwards High School, 1427 Fly St. Gonzales Police Department will provide escort and traffic control for the event.

A program and “Love Unity Luncheon” will be held at 11 a.m. at the Edwards CommUNITY Center, located at Kleine and Fly Streets, after the parade. Museum tours will be available after the luncheon.
