A female Gonzales resident was arrested early Sunday morning, accused of firing off several shots into the air from a handgun while on a vacant lot near downtown.

GPD officers responded at about 6:47 a.m. to a call of shots fired in the 800 block of Saint Paul Street, which is just down the street from the police station. Upon arrival, officers spoke with witnesses who stated a female subject was walking in a vacant lot when she fired a handgun in the air multiple times and then fled the scene.

There was no other person involved in the incident, nor was there any reported incident at any of the businesses nearby. The adult female subject was identified as Danielle Gonzales, 32, of Gonzales. She was located and taken into custody without incident. Her bond for a charge of deadly conduct discharge of a firearm was set at $10,000.
