On Aug. 22, Elisabeth Irving was selected as a state 4-H STEM Ambassador for 2024-2025. STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Elisabeth (Ellie) has been a member of the Gonzales County robotics club for the past three years, where she is passionate about using engineering and technology to improve efficiencies. She competes on a senior robotics team and helps mentor members of the junior team. This year at the 4-H banquet, she received the prestigious I DARE You Award, a national award that recognizes young adults who are ready to take on leadership roles.

The Texas 4-H STEM Ambassador program is a state-wide team who works in a youth-adult partnership structure to promote, educate, and inspire others in the area of STEM. The team consists of 4-H members who have a strong interest in promoting STEM to other 4-H members, volunteers, as well as groups outside of 4-H.

This 4-H technology team meets throughout the year to develop and support programs in areas such as robotics, photography, and video production. The highlight of their year will be providing the technological support at the Texas 4-H Roundup Celebration in June 2025.

“I am so proud of Ellie Irving for being selected. It is a very competitive leadership program; only twenty-eight 4-H members from across the state are selected for this program. Ellie’s goal is to attend Texas A&M University, and she is on the right path to reach her goal,” said Gayle Bludau, Gonzales County 4-H Coordinator.
