If you’ve heard about the Rusted Gingham Barn Sale but have never made it, now is your chance. The Final Ride will be happening Friday, Nov. 1, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This is the 17th annual event, and the show hosts hope to see you at JB Wells Show Barn to enjoy more than 70 vendors coming with vintage, antique, unique, from-scratch, handmade, upcycled, and architectural goods! You will rarely see something twice at the Barn Sale, as the vendors are selected based on the uniqueness of their items.
Among the 70+ vendors you will feel like you are walking into miniature stores as you move throughout the barn. Each vendor has their own unique items and ways to display their products. Cash for purchases is welcome and cards are accepted within most vendors.
This event has been a mainstay at JB Wells Show Barn for the past 13 years and has brought many shoppers to Gonzales looking for unique vintage and handmade items. Shopping isn’t all that you can encounter while in the barn. The Gonzales County A&M Club hosts the concessions with delicious chili and tamales along with chili dogs and Frito pie to raise money for their annual scholarships while other vendors, of which several are local, provide sweets, snacks, and drinks to enjoy while shopping or visiting.
Live music will be happening throughout the sale as well. Kicking off the event Friday evening, from College Station, will be Jerry Almarez, followed by Texas A&M student Hannah Abraham on the stage. Saturday morning, Yoakum native Dawson DeBord will get things started, followed by hometown sweetheart and Texas Music chart-topper Brandi Behlen, and closing off the afternoon will be the B & B Band from Meridian.
Barn Sale has become an annual excursion for family and friend groups from across the state, many meet at the barn to enjoy fellowship and shopping. A large number of bonds have been formed over the years— of shoppers and vendors. The kindness of the shoppers is one of the main reasons the vendors enjoy the barn so much. The creativity of the vendors and fantastically curated displays are reasons shoppers enjoy coming to the barn.
The Barn Sale was started in 2008 from the vision of local Suzanne Sexton. With two friends, their kids, and help from family, the event kicked off in a barn in Cost with eight vendors. In 2011, the event moved to JB Wells, where it has been ever since. Over the years, the vendor number has grown to more than 70. Entry is only $5 as it’s been since 2017 — if you are under 12 or over 85, then you get in free! Please leave your pets at home for this; the Barn Sale isn’t the place for them.
The camaraderie the event provides has been a blessing and one many look forward to. As Ecclesiastes 3: 1-3 describes, there is a time and season for everything and the season for the Barn Sale is coming to a close. As the doors of the barn close on Nov. 2, they will be closing the end of an era for the Rusted Gingham Barn Sale. Come enjoy the final ride.
