Frank “Kiko” Olmos

Frank “Kiko” Olmos, 90, of Gonzales, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022. He was born June 17, 1932 in Gonzales County to Catarino Olmos and Petra Guajardo Olmos. He married Stella Proa on March 8, 1989 in Gonzales. He had been an active member of LULAC. 

Frank was born on the family farm. He learned the value of a good work ethic at early age. Frank picked many a cotton field along with tending livestock. Although Frank’s level of education was limited to the 8^th grade, his common sense and strong work ethic enabled him to enjoy a successful and profitable life and persevere in all his endeavors. His lack of education made it his personal mission to have his children achieve their goals in obtaining their degrees in higher education.

There was never a challenge Frank couldn’t tackle. Frank was always a hard worker.  As a truck driver, he excelled, driving day or night whether it was local or long distance.  His love for family always brought him home.  He would help all he could in this community, ranching and civic activities.  He enjoyed horse riding and playing baseball with his children.  He was known by all of Gonzales residents, he was the last of the Mohicans. When Frank was not driving, he was operating his demolition business, many chicken houses came down at the hands of a man that loved life. His passion was to follow what meant most to him, living his best life with the love of his beloved wife and all his children. Many a time was spent following grandkids at their sporting events, band concerts, weddings and any other excuse that might give him bragging rights of his children’s accomplishments. Lastly, but definitely not least, nothing or nobody (even when was threatened to have his driver’s license taken away) could stop him from his daily drive through his beloved city of Gonzales, even if it meant he was holding up traffic putting around town or parking under a shade tree for short nap. Frank will be greatly missed by all that called him dad, grandpa, Tio, or just buddy, but none more than his beloved “Mama”, his pet-name for his beautiful wife Ms. Stella. 

Frank “Kiko” Olmos is survived by his adoring family; wife, Stella Olmos, daughters, Guadalupe Olmos De la Rosa, Rita Olmos San Miguel “Martin, Jr”, step-daughters, Liz Hernandez “Lorenzo, Jr” “Dorothy Rodriguez “Robert Lee”, Julie Mireles “Marty”, Linda Almaguer “Bruno”, Susie Gonzales “Phil”, Peggy Villareal, Diane Serna “Juan”, Debbie Cantu “Sammy”, sons, Henry Olmos “Lisa’, Manuel Olmos “Anna”, John Olmos “Irma”, step-sons, Randy Rodriguez, Dennis “Jojo” Rodriguez “Barbara”, Daniel Rodriguez “Rosalinda Rodriguez”, David Rodriguez, “Margarita Mendez”, brother Domingo Olmos “Christina”, 1^st wife, Juanita Molina Olmos and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Frank Olmos, Jr, stepson, Guadalupe “Tuttie” Rodriguez, granddaughters, Amanda Marie Olmos and Catherine E Hernandez, grandson, Andrew Thompson, brothers, Moya, Jesse, Joe, David, Tony, and Steven Olmos, and a sister, Janie Olmos Salazar. The family will receive friends from, 5 to 7 pm Monday, July 18, 2022 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with a message of faith being delivered at 7 pm in the chapel by Pastor Atilano Mendoza. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, July 19, 2022 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Wilson and Rev. Dr. James E. Jim Schellenberg. Interment will follow in Gonzales Memorial Park. Pallbearers: Aaron Hernandez, Buddy Rodriguez, Ryan Arellano, Chris Olmos, Gerardo “Junger” De la Rosa, Jr, and Brazos Olmos. Honorary Pallbearers, will be ALL of his grandchildren and Robert Lee Rodriguez. Memorials may be made to Missions of Faith Family or Iglesia Pentecostal Unida Hispana.
