God’s Storehouse moves to new location in Nixon

God’s Storehouse Food Bank will open the doors to their new location in Nixon this Thursday, Oct. 10, after volunteers worked tirelessly to get the building ready to go.

The new location is at 401 N. Franklin, directly across the street from the old God’s Storehouse building that was at the rear of the Nixon Methodist Church campus. Much of the building was made possible due to a grant donation by GVEC earlier this year.

God’s Storehouse is a nondenominational nonprofit food pantry and resale shop serving the Nixon community. They are associated with the Golden Crescent Food Bank in Victoria and are open every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Representatives from the non-profit organization say they “aspire to make our client families feel welcomed, valued and for their experience be one of respect and dignity as we serve them in their struggle with food insecurity.”

The food pantry and resale shop will celebrate the new building with a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21. Cake, cookies and punch will be served after the ribbon cutting.
