This past weekend, Gonzales had 11 Anchors attend the 42nd annual District Anchor Convention in Tyler.

At the convention, called Anchors Unmasked, the students held their annual business meeting and listened to the When Sean Speaks presentation.

The service project this year was the collection of gift cards to award traumatic brain injury survivors at the TBI Camps game and Bingo times. Gonzales Anchor Club wished farewell to two local Texas District officers: Estrella Zavala, serving as Vice President, and Kayelynn Sutton, serving as Treasurer for the 2023-24 year.

For the upcoming 2024-25 year, Gonzales was fortunate to have another local officer: Reigna Rhodes, who is now serving as secretary for the Texas District Anchor Club. Gonzales Anchor Club and Pilot Club of Gonzales are so proud of their local youth stepping up and representing their community by serving as a Texas District Anchor Officer.

Anchor Member Kylee Bairrington, serving as the Anchor Assistant Parliamentarian, stated, “I gained many new friends and I liked getting to see a lot of people who I saw last year at convention and fall councils.  I would go again because I like all the fun activities we do, and I especially liked sitting at the front dais table."

Anchor member Jolie Heller won third place at the Friday night Masquerade Costume Parade.

Anchor Members Penelope Rhodes, Nicholas Gonzales and Mateo Vasquez were the Gonzales Anchor Club voting delegates during the business session.

Outgoing Texas District Anchor Vice President: Estrella Zavala said, "Having had the opportunity to serve as a District Officer is something that I am more than grateful for.  All of the memories and friendships I made will forever live in my heart.  I am proud of what we accomplished as a team.  Our qualities complemented each other so well that if we came across a struggle, we always knew how to work together to get through it."

Outgoing Texas District Anchor Treasurer: Kayelynn Sutton stated, “Serving as a District officer was one of the most rewarding experiences someone can have. I have gained so many new friends from all over the nation and I have loved each and every memory that I have made.  If I had the chance, I would do it all over again and serve my district longer."

Incoming Texas District Anchor Secretary Reigna Rhodes stated, "I gained a better understanding of how TBI survivors live a daily normal life with their injuries. I liked meeting and bonding with the new district officer team.  I cannot wait to go again."
