Gonzales County will observe Armed Forces Day on Saturday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial, 430 Moore St., Gonzales.
Larry Mercer will deliver the greeting, followed by the presentation of the colors by the Gonzales Navy JROTC. Tiffany-Hutchison Padilla, Gonzales Main Street director, will lead the national anthem.
After a prayer by Pastor Lynn Wilson and a welcome by Mercer, the flags of each branch of service will be raised as their alma mater is played in the following order: U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Space Force.
Sgt. Curtis St. Pierre will speak about the missing man/fallen comrade table. Guest speaker will be Eugene Wilson Sr.
There will be a closing prayer by Wilson and the playing of God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood.
Reserved handicapped parking will be available on Moore Street. Please enter from the Saint Louis Street side. Bring your own chairs as there will not be any available on site.
