As part of the recent National Rural Health Day, Gonzales Healthcare Systems announced it has earned a 2024 Performance Leadership Award for excellence in quality.

Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards recognize top quartile performance (i.e., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes and/or Patient Perspective.

Gonzales Healthcare Systems CEO Brandon Anzaldua commented on the recent award.

“At Gonzales Healthcare Systems, we are unwavering in our commitment to delivering exceptional care and fostering a culture of quality that meets and exceeds the expectations of our patients and community,” Anzaldua said.

“Excellence is not just our goal; it is the standard that guides every aspect of our work. Our focus on quality reflects our belief that every individual deserves outstanding care, and we remain steadfast in our mission to advance health and wellness in our community. This award does not signify we've reached our goal but is a mile marker in our journey for high quality healthcare, every time.”

The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, a comprehensive and objective framework for assessing how rural hospitals are performing. INDEX benchmarks are relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure performance across multiple areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

“The Performance Leadership Awards capture the commitment, diligence, and innovation with which America’s rural hospitals approach the delivery of care within their communities,” said Troy Brown, Network Consultant, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “It’s a tremendous honor to be able to recognize the efforts of this year’s award winners and celebrate their achievement as part of National Rural Health Day.”

Gonzales Healthcare Systems is made up of a number of entities, but at the core is Memorial Hospital, a general acute-care facility offering 33 beds for patient care. The current facility, built in 1978, follows a tradition of community service begun by the Holmes Hospital, which opened in 1921.

Whether entering the system through  the Emergency Room, with its Trauma Level IV designation, or as a direct admit from a primary care physician’s office, patients coming to Memorial Hospital can access state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic services.

Additional services provided by Gonzales Healthcare Systems include three rural health clinics, surgical clinic, laboratory, radiology, occupational health services, and physical, occupational, and speech therapies. The hospital facility includes medical/surgical floor, labor & delivery, surgery, and emergency department. They also offer THRIVE Healthplex for your fitness needs.
