LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Gun show owner says support needed to keep show alive

Posted

Dear editor,

The Real Texas Gun Show, has enjoyed bringing the best little gun show to the citizens of Gonzales and surrounding areas. We have endeavored to bring the best and latest merchandise new guns, combination of old and  newest models together for your convenience under one roof.

After four years of doing so, meeting and becoming friends with several members of the community, you would think word of mouth, radio ads from local Texas Thunder station, radio stations all the way into San Antonio, quarter-page ads in the Gonzales Inquirer, road signage, I had hoped there would have been more interest and attendance to the gun show than has been.

We know times are hard and funds are tighter than ever before. Bottom line that this is still a business, and the bottom line counts. The ink needs to be black not red. The Real Texas Gun Show has a commitment with the J B Wells Expo Center for an Aug. 17-18 show. Unless there is a markedly large increase in patron door count, the Aug. 17-18 show will be the last Real Texas Gun Show  here in Gonzales.

This distresses myself greatly as I do very much like this area of Texas,, the friends I have met and will miss y’all. I am disappointed in this turn of events, as when I come to Gonzales it feels like I am coming home. In fact I have stated as much when signing the Alcalde Hotel guest book. I am not one to give up hope even as bleak as it seems.

So here is to the hope and hard work that this last scheduled Aug. 17-18 show will be the show that solidifies and anchors The Real Texas Gun Show as a welcome and worthwhile attraction to the list of the many experiences here in Gonzales Texas. We will be seeing you Aug. 17-18 at the J.B. Wells Expo Center. Hope to see you there.
