No word in the English language is more Texan than “y’all” and no other Halloween event is so quintessentially representative of Gonzales, Texas, as the annual Happy Fall Y’all, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The free Gonzales Main Street event has grown to include both Texas Heroes Square and Independence Square and will also feature a Fall Job Fair, sponsored by both the Gonzales Economic Development Corporations (GEDC) and Main Street.

Texas Heroes Square (where the Come and Take It Carnival was just held) will feature hay rides, photo booths, face painting, games and trick or treating at downtown businesses as part of the Downtown Business Monster Mash.

The Gonzales Ministerial Alliance and Main Street will present Trunk or Treat, a walk-through Halloween experience where children will go vehicle to vehicle in Independence Square for candy and goodies from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

The Main Street and GEDC Gonzales Job Fair will be held during Trunk or Treat and Happy Fall Y’all to allow job seekers a chance to explore new career paths and see who is hiring in the Gonzales area from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Texas Heroes Square. Businesses can register for the job fair by contacting Alexis Cerda with GEDC at gedcamin@gonzales.texas.gov or by calling 830-857-4307 or by logging onto www.gonzalesedc.org.

Main Street will also sponsor a Fall Window Decorating Contest for businesses located in the Gonzales Main Street District. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, and judging will take place Oct. 25. Categories include Best Fall Window 2023 and Best Halloween Window 2023.

Applications can be submitted to Main Street Director Tiffany Hutchison-Padilla at tpadilla@gonzales.texas.gov or be dropped off at City Hall.
