Joseph Eli Green Jr., age 66, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2. Family will receive friends to celebrate his life on Saturday, June 9, at 11 a.m. Memorial will be held at the Gonzales Elks Lodge.

Joseph was born on Oct. 16, 1951 in Gonzales to Joseph Sr. and Myrtle Delores Green (Hendershot). He graduated from Gonzales High School and joined the Air Force. He loved his time in the military and his world travels which included a tour in the Philippines where his only child was born. Upon his father’s illness he returned to Gonzales. He loved working and it took a hard battle for him to retire from his last job at Apache Chemical.

One of his favorite pastimes was being in his shop teaching anyone willing to learn. He was a devoted Grandpa to not only his biological grandkids but any kids who were around. For a simple man of few words, he had a lot to say about needing to relax and enjoy his final residence at the Heights of Gonzales.

To the very end he stuck to his nickname Mean Joe Green. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and the Elks Lodge.

Joseph is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Jon Moss and his oldest granddaughter Makayla Marissa Pekar.

He is survived by his daughter Michelle Taren Fernandez and husband Trent of Gonzales, his dearly beloved grandchildren Jeffery Alan Pekar Jr. and Ashley Kay Pekar both of Gonzales, his sister Norma Jean Moss of Gonzales, niece Andra Fridrich, husband Ryan and great niece Kayleigh all of Gonzales, nephew Joseph Moss, wife Danie and their three children of Gonzales.

The family would like to recognize and thank all the wonderful caring staff at the Heights of Gonzales along with his doctor John Thomas.
