The Kerr Creek Band will play Sunday, June 8, from 7-8:30 p.m. on the City Square in downtown Seguin for their summer concert series.
Kerr Creek, a local favorite in the Gonzales area, has been together in various configurations since the mid 1980s, playing mostly classic Country & Western, as well as some favorites from the ’50s and ’60s, for trail ride dances, class reunions, wedding receptions, birthday and anniversaries, and any other occasions that appreciated classic country, including fairly regular appearances at Elks’ Lodges and numerous honky tonks in the area.
The current five-piece band features steel guitar, fiddle, mandolin, piano, bass, drums, and lead and rhythm guitars, vocals and harmony. Lead vocalist Dr. Bob Williamson, who grew up in Poteet, says he woke up to music in his crib, played on radio station KBOP in Pleasanton by DJ Willie Nelson, and his first dance hall to attend was in Poth to see and hear Ray Price.
The band obviously features a lot of their songs, as well as plenty of George Strait and other favorites. Musicians include Mike Mikesh, bass and harmony vocals; Bill Finch, fiddle & mandolin; George Molina, percussion; Mack Quinney, steel & lead guitar & piano; and Bob Williamson, rhythm guitar and vocals.
