Nolan Ryan Casares

Nolan Ryan Casares, 32, of Gonzales, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021. He was born Dec. 30, 1988 in Seguin, TX the son of David and Lucy Jo Martinez Casares. 

He was a 2007 graduate of Gonzales High School and served with the United States Army. He married Pilar Shantel Hood on April 28, 2018 in Gonzales. He was the maintenance director of the Texan Nursing and Rehab Center in Gonzales. Nolan loved fishing and camping and was known for his excellent sense of humor; always joking, smiling and laughing. He loved sports of all kinds especially watching his favorite New Orleans Saints. Most of all he treasured time spent with his son and daughter along with all of his family. 

He is survived by his wife Pilar Shantel Casares of Gonzales; mother Lucy Jo Casares of Gonzales; father David Casares of Lockhart; daughter Carter Casares and son Kennedy Casares both of Gonzales, sisters: Crystal Wright and husband Damon of Leander, Cathy Casares of Bastrop and Debbie Riojas of Cuero; brothers David G. Casares and wife Connie and Joseph Martinez and wife Tiffany all of Gonzales; maternal grandparents Louis and Gloria Martinez of Gonzales and paternal grandparents Hilario and Theresa Casares of Shiner.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 24 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Reverend William Brown officiating.  Interment will follow at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers include: Joseph Martinez, Gabriel Casares, Mike Torres, Walter Hood, Daniel Casares and Josh Harper.  Honorary pallbearers are Miguel Matehaula, David Valdez and Manuel Olmos.

Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, chapel service and graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of COVID-19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
