Norma’s House has more than 61,000 reasons to be thankful for everyone who came out and participated in the 10thannual Bingo, Bags and Badges event at JB Wells Expo Center this past Friday, April 14.

“Our total (raised from the event) so far is $61,290,” said executive director Deane Novosad. “That definitely exceeds last year's amount. We are so thrilled with the generous support that Norma's House receives from our community.”

The amount breaks the previous record of $55,000 set at last year’s event. This year’s BBB also set a record with 720 tickets sold, which required a few more tables and reconfiguration of the event layout to accommodate all of the attendees.

Designer purses with brand names like Michael Kors, Coach, Kate Spade, HOBO and others were prizes for winning bingo cards — donated to the event by many generous local business and community members — while door prizes were drawn and other prizes were raffled, including a Gucci purse and other fabulous items.

Gabe Gallardo served as the emcee for the event, while DJ Randy Tovar spun the music and kept it lively for members of the Gonzales Police Department, Gonzales County Sheriff’s Department, Gonzales County Attorney’s Office modeled the prize purses and shook their groove things for tips from an adoring audience.
