Shiner St. Paul High School senior Dallyn Pesek, the reigning Miss Teen Texas, placed in the Top 20 at the 42nd Miss Teen USA pageant held in Los Angeles, Calif., earlier this month.

Pesek’s roommate at the pageant, Miss Teen Mississippi Addie Carver, was crowned Miss Teen USA Thursday, Aug. 1, at the Peacock Theater in a live televised event on the CW Network. First runner-up was Miss Teen Georgia Ava Colindres, while Miss Teen Arizona Rachael McLaen was second runner-up and Miss Teen Tennessee Townsend Blackwell was third runner-up.

Amazingly, Miss Teen West Virginia Olivia Travis overcame a fall in the athletic wear competition to be named fourth runner-up.

Rounding out the Top 10 were contestants from Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas and Maryland. Those placing in the Top 20 besides Pesek were contestants from District of Columbia, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah and Virginia.

Pesek, 17, is also the reigning Miss Teen Houston. She plays five sports at Shiner St. Paul, serves as the varsity cheer captain, and is a member of both the National Honor Society and Student Council.

She is also a special needs cheer coach and pageant director for the Miss Sparkle Special Needs Pageant. She hopes to attend the University of Texas at Austin to pursue a career in pediatric neurology, with an emphasis on helping special needs patients.
