Sgt. David Russell Isaac Stern

Sgt. David Russell Isaac Stern, USMC, went to guard the gates of Heaven on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 at the age of 43. He was born December 13, 1976 in Houston to Michael Roy Stern and Deborah Seiders Stern. David married SueAnn Bonnell on May 17, 2005 in Rockport.

As a youngster, David moved with his family and grew up in Portland, Katy and Nordheim where he had been earned the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout honor in 1994 and graduated from high school with the class of 1995. David enlisted into the United States Marine Corp in 1995 and served eight years before being honorably discharged in 2003. Following his service David went to work for Holt Caterpillar as a heavy machinery diesel mechanic. He worked all over central and south Texas for Holt Caterpillar until just a few months ago when his illness slowed him down.

David enjoyed working on his classic Chevys in his spare time.  He loved his family and relished the opportunities to barbeque and bake for them. David was a skillful antagonist and was equally as skilled in defusing situations he teasingly started with timely levity. David took the principles he learned while serving in the USMC, Honor, Courage and Commitment and continued to live them everyday in his life after his service. He cherished teaching life lessons to his beloved children, and he was devoutly committed to providing for all his family’s needs.  David was the most irritating and wonderful husband of all time. To his family he was larger than life and he will live on forever in their hearts and memory, Semper Fi Marine. Oohrah!

David is survived by his adoring family, wife; SueAnn Stern of Luling, parents; Michael and Debbie Stern of Yorktown, daughters; 2ndLt Emily Stern USMC of Quantico, VA, RebeccahLynn Johnson (Shane) of San Antonio, Caitlyn LePori (Tyler) of Harwood, Jordan Locke of Gonzales, sons, Elijah Stern and Aaron Stern of Luling, granddaughter; LeighAnn LePori, and sister; Michelle Stern of Austin.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mayme Dahl, Doris Stern and Bill West.
