It’s getting cooler and the leaves are changing colors, so that must mean it is almost time to welcome in the holiday season like our forebears did.

Experience pioneer life during the happiest time of year at the Gonzales Pioneer Village Living History Center annual Stars in the Village event, which is offered on three separate dates to give all community members and visitors a chance to join in the fun.

The event will be offered Saturday, Dec. 2; Friday, Dec. 8; and Saturday, Dec. 9, from 6-9 p.m. This event is hosted by and held at the Gonzales Pioneer Village, 2122 N. Saint Joseph St. On Dec. 9, there will be music featuring Bill Finch with The Bucksnort Boogie Band in the old church.

The event will have candle making, churning butter, spinning, ornament making, corn shuck dolls, popping popcorn around the campfire, hot chocolate, wassail and holiday cookies, as well as roasting marshmallows around the campfire. Plus, the blacksmith will return to work with the live forge and Saint Nick himself will be there to ask the kiddos what they want for Christmas.

The event will be offered for both adults and children, with tickets at $8 for adults, and $5 for kids under 12 years of age.
