Steven Randall Benton

Steven Randall Benton, 61, of Gonzales passed away Friday, May 7, 2021. Steve was born May 13, 1959 in Pittsburg, KS to James Edward Benton and Sandra Carol Sanderson Benton. Steve worked early in his youth operating heavy machinery. He worked at DOW Chemical until retiring in 1998. 

Steve had a very caring and generous heart. He loved family and was a loving father, son, brother, and grandfather. He had a tremendous sense of humor and reveled in the laughter of others. Steve was an excellent mechanic and could fix anything. 

Steve is survived by his loving daughters, Melissa Smith (Corey) of Angleton, Jennifer Benton of Brazoria, Alison Benton (John Nichols) of Brazoria, mother, Sandra Adams of Gonzales; sisters, Armenta Thick of Gonzales, Laura Adams of Gonzales; brother, Walker Adams of Austin; adopted brother, Mystro Adams of Gonzales; grandchildren, Jacob Benton, Robert Nicholas Bernal, Chris Bernal, Tyler Murray, Delilah Bernal, Makenna Wasek, and Zachery Benton; former wife, Pamela Shepherd of Brazoria and his beloved nephew, John Leslie Bashaw and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Benton; stepfather, Eddie Adams; brothers, James Ray Benton, Benjamin Joseph Benton; sister, Kathy Benton, and favorite domino player Vic Mathis.
