SAN ANTONIO – Touchstone Communities, a growing provider of skilled nursing, rehabilitation and Alzheimer’s care facilities, has announced its acquisition of Hill Country Nursing and Rehabilitation in Gonzales.

The facility will begin operating as The Heights of Gonzales on Nov. 1, focusing on a commitment to long-term and rehabilitative care. This move builds on Touchstone Communities’ growing presence as a provider of health care services for the elderly in Texas and Arizona.

“We are delighted to bring Gonzales residents the elements of our company purpose, mission and vision which are founded on the basis of delivering compassionate care through innovative approaches to the residents of this community,” said Touchstone Communities CEO Stan Studer, Jr. “We look forward to continued work with the previous owner Tommy Cox and we are extremely grateful for the seamless transition that has happened thus far.”

“The entire organization is committed to fostering the relationships within the local community while continuing the ‘neighborhood concept’ already set in place.”

This acquisition was an ideal fit for Touchstone because of its physical structure as well as the organization’s previous resident-centered approach found in the ‘neighborhood concept.’

The Heights of Gonzales neighborhoods offer a more inviting, intimate atmosphere featuring round-the-clock access to food, spacious family rooms, daily activities and attentive care that honors the dignity and preferences of residents. Touchstone Communities has already successfully implemented the ‘neighborhood concept’ at several Texas properties including The Heights at Pleasanton, The Heights on Huebner in San Antonio and its soon-to-be opened facility, The Heights of Tyler in Tyler.

Touchstone’s first order of business will be to host informal meetings in the area for residents, their families and the local community to inform them of the shift in management and also answer any questions about Touchstone’s strategy for continuing care in the Gonzales area.

Headquartered in San Antonio, Touchstone Communities provides health care services, including skilled nursing, rehabilitation and Alzheimer’s care for the elderly. With 1,300 team members, Touchstone Communities independently owns nine communities in Texas, including San Antonio, Brenham, Del Rio, La Vernia, Pleasanton, Rockdale, Snyder, and two in Arizona, both in Prescott.
