The Texas Junior High Rodeo Association again brings its finals to the JB Wells Park, Arena & Expo Center in Gonzales from Sunday, May 21 through Saturday, May 27 and two locals will get a chance to compete at that top level.

Emme Albert and Paisley Gibson, both of Gonzales, qualified for the TJHRA Finals in their hometown; both girls are excited to compete in the finals in Gonzales.

Albert and Gibson both said it is cool to make the finals that is being held in their hometown.

Gibson, 13, has been competing in TJHRA for three years, and Albert, 11, just started her first year in the rodeo; both girls said this is the first time they’ve qualified for the finals.

Gonzales has already started prepping things for the finals to be held at JB Wells Arena and the girls are excited to see banners of them across town.

“Pretty cool if we have a whole bunch of people coming up to support us,” Paisley Gibson said.

Both said they enjoy being part of the rodeo and seeing their friends at the events.

Albert’s and Gibson’s parents — Andrea and Charlie Albert and Amy Gibson — are all excited to see their daughters compete together in finals in Gonzales.

“It's pretty nice to be able to represent the community, putting in all of their hard work that they do practicing day in and day out. They're both homeschooled and so they dedicate themselves a lot to the sport of rodeo,” Andrea Albert said.

“To see that their hard work pay off and I love that it's in Gonzales that it brings a lot of people to the town,” Amy Gibson said.

Both Paisley Gibson and Emme Albert have been friends for a very long time and are very supportive of each other during their events.

“Even though they compete against each other, you always hear one or the other in the alleyway screaming at each other,” Andrea Albert said.

Paisley Gibson will compete in the breakaways, goats and poles, and Emme Albert will compete in the barrels, poles, goats and breakaway.
