Texas rockabilly and country icons Two Tons of Steel will again headline the Nixon Lions Club Fall Concert & BBQ will be held Saturday, Sept. 20, at The Camp House, 926 FM 1681, Nixon.
VIP packages go for $150 each and gates will open at 5 p.m. for this event, which will also feature Gonzales singer-songwriter Brandi Behlen and Jessee Lee. The event will be held rain or shine. Only 150 tickets and 300 drawing tickets will be sold.
A full brisket dinner is included with the ticket price, along with three drawing tickets, a personal snack tray at the table, a souvenir concert tumbler, a souvenir concert poster, a merchandise voucher for $10, a reserved table close to the stage and parking near Camp House and complimentary water/iced tea (this is a BYOB event).
There will be a special 5:30 p.m. drawing for two $50 artist merchandise vouchers (must be present to win and your ticket will be returned to the hopper for the main drawing).
Concert tickets will be emailed prior to the concert.
There will also be a silent auction featuring old Nixon memorabilia, including yearbooks, cookbooks and more. The event is BYOB and there will be $20 tickets for a drawing with only 300 tickets sold. The old Nixon Theater sign will also be lit for the first time in 50 years!
Two Tons of Steel, based out of San Antonio, has been an institution at Gruene Hall and has performed several times at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Band members include lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Kevin Geil, drummer Rich Alcorta, bass player J.D. Larish and lead guitarist Stephen James.
For 28 years they have had “Two Ton Tuesday Live from Gruene Hall,” a summer-long event which has drawn more than 275,000 fans since it first began in 1995. The band was filmed during a “Two Ton Tuesday” gig for the IMAX film, "Texas: The Big Picture," which can be seen daily at the IMAX Theatre in the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin.
