Nancy Anne Ryan (née Reese) passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on November 30, 1943, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Nancy was the beloved daughter of Allan and Margaret Reese. She is the older sister to 4 brothers, Allan Jr, Jack, Tim and Danny Reese.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Ryan, to whom she shared 55 years of partnership and deep affection; her parents, Allan and Margaret Reese; and her brothers, Allan Jr. and Jack Reese. Each left an indelible mark upon her heart, and their memories provided her with both comfort and inspiration.
She is survived by her cherished sons: Anthony “Tony” Ryan (Denise) of Adkins, Texas, and Joel Ryan of Durango, Colorado; her beloved grandchildren: Emily, Lacey, Molly, Aster, Luke, Samuel, Nathan, and Russell Ryan; brothers: Daniel Reese (Betsy) of Rochester, New York and Tim Reese (Cathy) of North East, Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews. Her warmth, friendship, and counsel were treasured by each generation of her family.
While Nancy had a significant fear of heights and speeding cars, she could be very brave. She founded the Papillion Historical Society in Papillion, NE and she was renowned for her efforts in saving animals, particularly cats, dogs, turtles and non-venomous snakes. Horse rescue was one of her favorite charities. Nancy was active in church for much of her life and longtime member of Floresville United Methodist Church. Gifts to the church to honor her memory are greatly appreciated.
Family was the cornerstone of Nancy’s life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. She was known for her celebration of Christmas and birthdays with her friends and loved ones. Her compassion reached beyond her immediate family, and her friendships were treasured and enduring.
Please help us celebrate Nancy. The memorial service is Noon, September 14 (Monday) at Floresville United Methodist. The internment ceremony follows at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:30pm. There is viewing the night before, Sunday 9/13, from 4-7pm at Vineyard Funeral Home. Viewing is also available Monday before the service at 11 am.
