Commissioner candidates file campaign finance reports

Candidates in the Precinct 1 Gonzales County Commissioner race have collected a combined total of $15,830.50 in reported political contributions from Sept. 1, 2023 through Feb. 5 — 30 days before the March 5 Republican primary.

Meanwhile, candidates for Precinct 3 Gonzales County Commissioner have collected a combined total of $1,950 in reported political contributions, while one candidates has loaned his own campaign $3,700.

Precinct 1 Commissioner

Anton W. “Tony” Matias has raised the most money of any of the commissioner candidates, collecting $11,280.48 in contributions since September 2023. That includes separate $5,000 and $2,500 contributions from Attoyac Energy Service LLC of Gonzales; $2,000 from Texas Benefit Solutions Inc. of Gonzales; $1,000 from Come and Take It LLC of Gonzales; $500 from Eddie & Jody Callendar and $50 from Richard Yates.

Matias’ expenses from September 2023 through Feb. 5 are a combined $9,924.67, which includes $7,696.73 to N&B Signs New Braunfels for advertising; $399.50 to HEB for travel and fuel; $98.21 to HEB and Walmart for printing supplies; $563.10 to Coastal Office Supply for advertising supplies; $150 to Shelton Designs for T-shirts; $23.52 to Garcia’s of Seguin for food; $61.95 to GG Steak House of Gonzales for food; $750 to Gonzales County Republican Party for a filing fee; $6.50 to Family Dollar for supplies; $15 to Harbor Freight for advertising supplies; $5.01 to USPS for postage; $92.01 to Coastal Office Supply for advertising supplies and $63.14 to Coastal Office Supply for advertising supplies.

David A. Janota reportedly has raised $2,000.04 in political contributions since September 2023. That includes $1,000 from David Janota; $300 from Ludmila Janota of Gonzales; $100 from Tyler Janota of Segun; $100 from Melda Rios of Banquete; and $100 from Kaleigh Walker of Mason. Expenditures for Janota were $1,997.75, but there was not an itemized breakdown of expenses available on the campaign finance report.

Ryan Mills reported receiving $2,950 in political contributions since September 2023. This includes $1,800 from Joe Dale and Desiree Mills of Gonzales; $500 from the Schroeder Family Operating Fund LLC of Gonzales; $300 from Wayne Brown of Gonzales; $250 form Mata Turf c/o Anthony Bevis of Shiner; and $100 from Judy Wehde of Gonzales.

Mills reported a total of $1,716.90 in political expenditures from campaign funds as well as $4,341.83 in political expenditures made from personal funds. This includes $1,716.90 to Thomas Graphics for advertising (mail out letter) as well as $283.30 to 4imprint for pens (advertising) out of personal funds and $4,058.53 to Personal Impressions of Gonzales out of personal funds for advertising supplies and expenses.

Precinct 3 Commissioner

Roy Staton reported political contributions of $1,450 since September 2023, including $500 from Richard L. Kotwig of Gonzales; $500 from Rebecca & Martin Swayze of Seguin; $250 from Kevin La Fleur of Gonzales; and $200 from John J. Pickens of Austin. He also reported personal contributions of $690.44 for political expenditures.

Staton reported total campaign expenditures of $2,145.44, which includes expenditures of $1,223.14 to 1st Source Digital of Selma for advertising expenses; $456.82 for advertising expenses to 1st Source Digital of Selma; and $95.26 for advertising expenses to 1st Source Digital of Selma.

Tommy Barnick reported $500 in political contributions since September 2023, including $250 from Joe Frank Solansky Jr. of Gonzales; $150 from Matt Wolff of Gonzales and $100 from Wayne Saliger of Gonzales. He also reported personal loans to his campaign of $3,700.

Barnick reported total campaign expenditures of $3,534.38, which includes $750 to the Gonzales County Republican Party for the candidate filing fee; $308.51 to Coastal Office Solutions for printing; $227.32 to Coastal Office Solutions for printing; $2,059.11 to Personal Impressions for printing; $129.90 to Coastal Office Solutions for printing; and $59.54 to Coastal Office Solutions for printing.
