Donating Christmas cheer this year

Posted

There are often multiple ways to help your community during the holiday season, and Gonzales is no exception to this rule, with many ways to help our fellow community members available to us.

Three of those ways are the Victoria College Gonzales Center Toy Drive, the Legacy Ranch Children’s Shelter Donation Drive, and the call to provide warm items of clothing to our elderly members by the Gonzales County Senior Citizens Association.

• The Victoria College Gonzales Center toy drive is currently ongoing and will continue through Friday, Dec. 9. This event is being sponsored by the Victoria College Gonzales Student Nurses Association and the drive is collecting gently used and new toys for all ages, to be delivered in person to Victoria College Gonzales Center, Room 119.

• The Legacy Ranch Children’s Shelter Donation Drive is accepting clothes, 2T through teens, with a specific need currently of sizes 6, 7 and 8, as well as non perishable grocery items, Christmas toys, and gifts. These items may be dropped off Tuesday — Thursday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1206 St. Joseph St. in Gonzales. Donations may also be made online at fosterriverranch.com.

• The Gonzales County Senior Citizens Association is collecting socks, blankets, scarves and gloves for seniors, to keep them warm and safe during this quickly oncoming winter. Donations are also being accepted to purchase these same items.

Drop off locations include the Gonzales National Bank, 1622 E. Sarah Dewitt Dr., 321 Pop-Up Market, 319 St. Lawrence St., and Gonzales County Senior Citizens, 818 Seydler St. Look for the snowflake tubs at the collection sites. For further information call 830-672-7014, please note that monetary donations should be made at the Gonzales County Senior Citizens location only.
