It has been a challenging season for gardening success. First there was two years in a row of Great Texas Freezes. Then, this year it stopped raining right at the start of the growing season. But the gardens are to be opened right on schedule due to the dedication of a handful of historic home owners and avid gardeners.
This hearty handful believe in sharing all the extraordinary things that Gonzales has to offer, including their private garden spaces. The idea for a garden tour sprang from of the interest of so any of the visitors from near and far who tour these homes during the Winterfest. Visitors would gaze out the window at the bleak and brown gardens and sigh, “Oh, I’d love to see these gardens in the spring.” Well, now they can!
The first annual Gardens of Gonzales Tour takes place this weekend. And it is a great time to start a new tradition, as Mother’s Day weekend is the perfect time to do something special with Mom.
It is the perfect time to take your Mom who loves to dig in the dirt and your Mom who loves the tiniest flower that blooms to the first annual Gardens of Gonzales Tour. You and she really deserve a treat in these special retreats that the Gardens of Gonzales have to offer.
