OBITUARY

Robert Wayne Miller

Posted

The world lost an amazing and honorable man when Robert Wayne Miller left this earth on September 27, 2024.

Robert was born on October 26, 1948, to Robert Wesley Miller and Christine (Hagen) Miller. Robert spent most of his life in Gonzales and met the love of his life while attending Gonzales High School. Robert graduated from Gonzales High School in 1967. On December 19, 1970, Robert made his true love his wife when he married Connie (Baros) Miller.

Robert had a long and lucrative 45-year career working for the City of Gonzales in the Electrical Department. He began as a lineman and worked his way through the ranks of supervisor, manager, and ultimately to the Electrical Superintendent.

While he retired in 2015, he was the only person who truly knew how to maintain and keep the hydroelectric dam running and he continued working on it until he was able to train someone and hand over the reins. While he always loved the rain, like all former lineman's, storms always made him slightly on edge.

After retirement Robert did not slow down; he continued to work cattle, tinker with his tractors, drive out to the country, and pick his cherished grandson up from the bus stop followed by a stop at Dairy Queen to get blizzards.

Those fortunate enough to know Robert, knew that he had the biggest heart, would help anyone that needed it, with no questions asked, and was quite the prankster and jokester. If you were around Robert; you knew you would be smiling and laughing.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Robert Wesely Miller and Christine Miller.

Continuing in his legacy and forever keeping his memories alive are his beautiful bride of 53 years Connie Miller, his dutiful son James (JR) Miller, JR’s wife Keri Miller, and his partner in crime and only grandchild, Wesley Tyler Miller.

A graveside service will be held on October 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers escorting Robert to his final resting place are Wesley Miller, Mark Hagen, Leslie Pirkle, Gary Behrendt, Rickey Campion, and Billy Rhoades.
