Teresa Kimberly Johnson Hensley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Teresa Kimberly Johnson Hensley, a talented artist, beloved art teacher, wife, and mother. She passed away on Wednesday October 4, 2023, at the age of 70 after a difficult battle with ALS.

Teresa was born on September 26, 1953, in Haltom City, Texas, to parents Rex and Jeannette Kimberly. She attended Haltom High School where she was head cheerleader, home coming queen, football sweetheart, and was part of the graduating class of 1971. She attended Saint Edwards University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Anthropology, later received her Teaching Certificate, and continued her pursuit of Arts in Education from Texas State. Teresa loved all forms of art, and her passion for creating beautiful pieces was evident in every aspect of her life.

After completing her education, Teresa taught at various schools before joining the faculty at Gonzales High School where she served as the Art Teacher for over 10 years. Her artistic talent and love of teaching inspired and influenced countless students who went on to achieve great success in their own pursuits.

In addition to her career in education, Teresa was an accomplished artist in her own right, known for her stunning landscape paintings, outstanding weaving skills, and amazing watercolors. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and shows throughout Texas and has won numerous awards.

Teresa Kimberly Johnson Hensley will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Danny Hensley, daughter, Tania Johnson of Gonzales, son, Kyle Johnson and wife Lauren of Pflugerville, three Grand Children, two brothers, Arlen (Cathy) Kimberly, Keith Kimberly, and two son in-laws Daniel and Dustin. She is predeceased by her parents Rex and Jeannette Kimberly.

Her legacy as an inspiring teacher and talented artist will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. In lieu of a funeral, a memorial and celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be determined.

Donations in her memory can be made to ALS research, which Teresa believed was important to help find a cure for this devastating disease.
