La Vernia snaps La Apaches FC’s win streak

The Gonzales Lady Apaches FC and the La Vernia Lady Bears squared off at Apache Field Friday, March 8 in a battle of the two top teams in District 27-4A.

The Lady Apaches fell to La Vernia, 2-0, but held them to only two goals; the lowest allowed to La Vernia in any district game.

Gonzales then got back on the winning track beating YWLA, 2-1, for its final home game of the season and inching close to securing the second seed in the district.

The Lady Apaches played their final regular season game against San Antonio Memorial Wednesday, March 13 on the road.

As of right now, the Lady Apaches will either face Floresville (if they finish second) or Uvalde (if they finish third) in the bi-district round.

The first round of the 4A UIL girls soccer playoffs kicks off Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26.
