The UIL softball playoffs are around the corner for many teams in Texas, but the Gonzales Lady Apaches took advantage of the layover with a pre-playoff match against Shiner St. Paul Monday, April 22.

The Lady Apaches beat the Lady Cardinals, 8-5, in Shiner.

Lady Apaches senior catcher Sydney McCray recorded two home runs in the win over St. Paul and freshman pitcher Dixie Rae Lester struck out 10 Lady Cardinals’ batters.

Gonzales will host game one against the Wimberley Lady Texans Friday, April 26 and game two and three (if needed) are set for Saturday, April 27 in Wimberley.

Wimberley finished third in District 27-4A, stunning the Boerne Lady Greyhounds in a 14-13 walk-off in eight innings.

First pitch for game one is set for 6 p.m.

Game Two is set for noon and game three is set for 2 p.m. (if needed).
