Apaches powerlifting competes at THSPA regional meet

Four Apaches are heading to the state powerlifting meet after competing in the regional meet Thursday, March 7 in Colmesneil.

Apache Jessiah Barr set a new regional record with 1,490 total pounds at the meet; the previous record was 1,385.

Barr will be joined by Kaden Deleon, Landon Holub and Omar Borjon at the state meet in Abilene Friday, March 22.

Team results: seventh place with 14 points.

114 weight class: Hector Reyna: fifth place 690 total pounds

148 weight class: J. Barr (state qualifier): first place 1,490 total pounds
165 weight class: K. Deleon (state qualifier): fifth place 1,395 total pounds

242 weight class: Gary Lewis III: eighth place 1,290 total pounds

275 weight class: L. Holub (state qualifier): third place 1,580 total pounds

308 weight class: Omar Borjon (state qualifier): third place 1,620 total pounds
