It is with great sadness that the family of Clyde Lee Hinton announces his passing on Thursday morning, April 2nd at his home in Gonzales, Texas at the age of 86.

Clyde was a lifetime Texan and proud of it. He was born in Cuero and graduated from Gonzales High School where he played on the football team and was a member of the FFA. During his senior year in high school he was named to the all-district football team and voted the “most friendliest”. He worked briefly as a ranch hand/foreman for a few years before working as a machinist and moving his way up to shop foreman for Johnson Testers (which became Schlumberger) in Sugar Land, Texas for 16 years before finishing his career at Welex (Haliburton). He was able to retire early and pursue his many interest.

Clyde was preceeded in death by his parents Douglas Hinton, Margaret Hinton and his grandson Conner Hinton. He is survived by sisters Tommie Herzik (Joe), Connie Conover (Bill) and Tina Arlitt (John). He will be forever remembered by his two sons: Mark (Shelly) and Tom (Dena). Clyde will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Olivia Hinton, Devon MacLaren (Michael) and Taylor Mohler and his great grandchildren Jace Mohler, Lily and Stirling MacLaren.

Clyde is best known for his love of horses and hunting. He raised horses throughout his life and was well known as a “horse guy”. He loved hunting and fishing. He traveled to many states and several countries on “swap” hunts and could tell some great hunting and fishing stories.

On the home front, he was the center of the family unit and will be remembered fondly for the many competitive domino games played late into the night.

A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, May 2nd at the Elks Lodge, 1222 E Sarah DeWitt Dr., Gonzales, TX 78629 at 11:00AM.
