Dorothy Lamza Warren was born on February 5, 1939, in Karnes County, Texas, to John Andrew Lamza and Pauline Snoga Lamza. On July 27, 2026, she entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and received the promise of eternal life in Heaven. While her family grieves her passing, they rejoice in knowing she is at peace, healed, and reunited with loved ones.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Norman "Sonny" Lamza; her grandson, Bubba Moy; and her loving husband of 31 years, Dennis Warren.
She is survived by her four daughters, Dorothy “Denice” Calley; Beverly Talley (Malcolm); Paula Lucas (Joe); and Cheryle Gomez (Richard); her brother, Johnny "Bubba" Lamza (Belinda); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members and her cherished church family.
Throughout her life, Dorothy embraced many roles. She worked as a dietitian, a nurse, a restaurant owner, and even earned extra income by doing ironing. She found joy in life's simple blessings such as sewing, canning, tending to her plants, and keeping a tidy home. Dorothy cherished being a grandmother and loved attending the activities and special events of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was so proud of.
Above all, she considered her greatest calling to be living as a faithful Christian. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, volunteered her time, and faithfully served others. A Bible was always close at hand in her home, reflecting the faith that guided her every day.
Her family will always remember her delicious chocolate pies and banana bread, lovingly made for those she cared about. Another cherished memory was traveling to the Holy Land with her brother, Sonny, where she walked the places that brought the stories of Scripture to life.
Dorothy's greatest legacy is not only the many lives she touched through her kindness and service, but also the love of Jesus Christ that she and the love of her life, Dennis, shared so freely with everyone they met. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she has finished her earthly journey and is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Nixon, Texas.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dorothy's wonderful neighbors, to her loving church family, Heart to Heart Hospice, and to the staff at The Heights of Gonzales, especially Nurse Paula LaFleur and Maria Molina.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Dorothy's memory by extending kindness to others, lending a helping hand to someone in need, or sharing the love of Christ.
