The Gonzales Lady Apaches hosted the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas for a non-district volleyball match at the Apache Gym Tuesday, Aug. 27.

The Lady Apaches fell to Hallettsville in three sets (14-25, 21-25, 12-25),  losing their 12th match of the season.

The Lady Apaches made some adjustments in the second set and managed to keep the game close against Hallettsville.

“We started playing as a team and not as individuals, and started moving more with the flow of the game,” Lady Apaches head volleyball coach Kim Payne said.

The Lady Apaches will have a bye Friday, Aug. 30 and will return home Tuesday, Sept. 3 for a non-district match against the Edna Cowgirls.

Gonzales played Edna in the Schulenburg tournament and lost to them, but Payne and her team will be ready for the second time.

“We played Edna, so we kind of know about the caliber they are. We've just got to tweak some stuff to what we need to do and fix some holes, and some blocks, and some defensive issues,” Payne said.

The Edna game starts at 6 p.m.
