Frances Elaine Huber was born March 26, 1945, in Luling, TX to William “Bill” Huber and Lucille Alex Huber and was the baby sister to Billy, Mary, Danny, Tommy, and David. She passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025.
After graduation from Luling High School, she left no trail behind and began her career in data computer processing for the Baptist Memorial Hospital System in San Antonio. She went from a blue jean country girl to Miss Fancy when she moved to San Antonio.
She moved to Gonzales in the early 80’s and worked at Warm Springs in Ottine. There, she met her best friend, Judy Stell. They traveled all over the country together. One trip in particular was the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, GA. They had a sisterhood that remained until Elaine’s passing.
After working briefly at Warm Springs, Elaine, who was always on the go, moved to Flour Bluff and continued her career in computer data at Delmar College in Corpus Christi. Upon her retirement from DelMar, she returned to Luling to be closer to, as well as to spoil and be spoiled in return by her family, but mainly to be closer to her big sister, Mary, whom she called “Mooch”.
Elaine, Tante, or Lanie as she was affectionately called by her family, was known for her wit, strength, devotion to her family and for spoiling her nieces and nephews rotten. They would always look for presents with her name on them knowing she went overboard. Many summers and Spring Breaks were spent with her in Corpus Christi, and she always went above and beyond to make sure the trips were special, and no visit to Tante was complete without a meal (or several meals) at Snoopy’s.
Elaine had an eye for fashion. She was always dressed to the nines and wore the most fabulous shoes. Her nieces loved going through her closet, especially her shoes. Her love of shopping for any and everything was inherited by a few of her nieces.
One thing about Elaine is she was steadfast in her beliefs, and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She didn’t back down from a discussion and you knew she meant what she was saying by the hand motions she’d make.
She always had a soft spot for animals. She took in every stray cat that decided to make her porch their home. When she’d be away from home, she made sure one of us fed her herd.
Elaine/Tante/Lanie was vibrant, charismatic, caring, and loved her family deeply. She was sassy, classy, and passionate.
Elaine was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, sister Mary Etheridge, brothers David Huber, Sr., and Billy Huber, nephews David Thomas Huber and Russell Huber, and niece Pattie Ann Johnson.
Her memory will be carried on by her brothers, Tommy Huber (Sandy) and Danny Huber (Beverly). Nieces, Julie Andreolli (Art), Terri Tresner (Wayne), Twila Huber, Dana Lloyd (Mike), Sharran Lusby (Eugene), Colleen Nichols (Shaun), Ginger Burgan (Billy), and Helen Isom (Dallas).
